Mecha Engineering was created to supply flexible Mechanical Engineering and Project Management support on a surge basis.
In considering a true, dyed in the wool, contract based engineer, you have to weigh the benefits carefully. There are a lot of ‘temporary’ agencies out there, and they frequently don’t offer the best and the brightest. What sets Mecha apart?
Typically, I work on a task or project based scenario. When there is an opportunity, but the available staffing resources are not present in house, my work style fits the bill. My job is finished when the task is complete, so there are no issues with destaffing when a project wraps up. Additionally, many times, uncertainties in funding allocation make it difficult to warrant permanent staffing, where again, a flexible model works better. Being incorporated as a LLC allows me to take extended projects as well.
As a hired gun, so to speak, I go where I am needed. The world is a smaller place with modern communication tools, but many times you needs someone on site. If its a 80 mile daily commute, or a 2000 mile bi-weekly jump over 9 months, I have done it, earning my wings and my road warrior merit badges. I dont consider travel as vacation on the company dime.. its work. I know how to work on the road, manage jet lag, and still hit the ground running.
Typically, my rates are at a premium, but I do not have added overhead costs of staffing departments and recruitment agencies. My goal is to come in at a rate to a project below that of your mid to senior staff, when all things have been considered. Further, ultimately, I call the shots, so if we need to make a rate work, that can probably happen.
Opposed to a lot of ‘contractors’ out there who are using the name to cover for employment gaps, I am the real deal and have been for 10 years. I have enough experience to know how to integrate myself into a project quickly and effectively. I am a generalist, but I quickly come up to speed through a devastating work ethic. This is what I do, and I love coming into a intense project and putting in the work to make it a success.
